US and Russia brokered a deal for cessation of hostilities in Syria. The truce, however, failed as Russian or Syrian warplanes fired missiles in the neighbourhoods of al-Mowasalat, Karm al-Jabal, Karm al-Biek, al-Sakhur and Sheikh Khader in Aleppo city, killing and injuring civilians. The Syrian regime forces also used so called barrel bombs dropped from helicopters.
The first airstrikes have been launched on September 19th against ISIS in the Syrian city of Aleppo, since a truce came into effect under a US-Russia deal.
The US-led coalition confirmed that a mistaken airstrike killed at least 62 Syrian soldiers fighting ISIS.
According to the statement of the US Central Command: "Syria is a complex situation with various military forces and militias in close proximity, but coalition forces would not intentionally strike a known Syrian military unit."
